How to measure kids' feet

A sheet of paper, a pen and a wall is all it takes. Type the measurement below for the size; the steps are underneath.

Which size fits your child?

Stand your child on a sheet of paper against a wall, mark the longest toe, and measure from the wall. Do it in the evening: feet swell during the day, and that is the foot the shoe has to fit.

How to measure

  1. Stand the child on a sheet of paper, heel lightly against the wall, in the sock the shoe will be worn with.
  2. Draw a line in front of the longest toe. It is not always the big toe.
  3. Measure from the paper's wall edge to the line: that is the foot length in cm.
  4. Measure both feet and use the larger one. The difference can be half a size.
  5. Measure late in the afternoon or in the evening: feet swell during the day, and that is the foot the shoe has to fit.

Add 1 to 1.5 cm of toe room when picking the shoe. Winter boots need more; the brand pages list their own margins.
