Winter clothes checklist for kids

What a child actually needs for a Nordic winter, tested daily at a Swedish förskola. Tick off what you already own.

• Winter overall, or jacket and bib trousers
• Lined waterproof winter boots
• Wool base layer, two sets
• Fleece or wool mid layer
• Wool socks, three pairs
• Waterproof mittens, two pairs (one is always wet)
• Thin liner gloves for the mitten breaks
• Hat that covers the ears
• Neck warmer (förskola bans scarves)
• Rain set and rubber boots for the slush weeks
